BESPOKE FINISHING STUDIO

The Studio

Monkey Nuts Paint is based in a two-floor studio in Berkshire, purpose-built to separate the creative and technical stages of every commission.

Upstairs is where each project begins — consultation, design development, and the detailed surface preparation that determines how a finish will ultimately flow across an object. It's slower, more considered work, and it shapes everything that follows.

Downstairs houses a full-size professional spray booth and the associated plant required for specialist colour, graphics, clearcoat and final finishing — a controlled environment essential to getting a flawless result.

This separation of space mirrors the separation of process: nothing is rushed, and nothing is finished until it's ready to be.

Every commission starts with a conversation.

The Hand Behind the Finish

Dave founded Monkey Nuts Paint after two decades spent refining a single pursuit: getting a finish exactly right.

His first project was the restoration of a 1962 VW split-screen camper van — a piece that demanded patience long before it demanded paint. That early lesson has shaped every commission since: the result is only as good as the preparation behind it.

Twenty years on, what draws him to bespoke work hasn't changed. No two commissions are alike, and each one calls for a different technique, a different problem to solve, a different standard to meet. It's this variety — and the pursuit of a flawless result every time — that keeps the work interesting.

That same standard is applied to every commission that comes through the door — without compromise.
